The Bauer Vapor X800 stands at the gateway to the elite Vapor skates and offers a broad array of high-end, elite-level features that will impress serious skaters, especially at its price point. The upgraded quarter package, liner, and tongue add to a high-performing skate built for quick, elite skaters.

  • Tuuk LightSpeed Edge holder for trigger-quick blade replacement
  • Pro TPU outsole for increased stiffness and energy transfer
  • 3-D Lasted Curv Composite quarter material for increased stiffness and thermoformable customization
  • X-rib design for increased heel stability and overall rigidity
  • Flex-lock tongue with injected center foams for comfortable protection

The Vapor X800 features the popular Tuuk LightSpeed Edge holder. Its popularity is based on Tuuk’s innovative trigger release that allows skaters to swap out their blades in seconds for more time on the ice and less time languishing on the bench, tinkering with a skate. The edge holder is also three millimeters taller in both front and rear posts, so skaters can get even farther over edges without bottoming out.

The Tuuk holder is connected to the X800’s Pro TPU outsole. The TPU outsole includes a center indentation for increased stiffness and energy transfer through the boot. The TPU supports Bauer’s 3-D Lasted Curv Composite quarter package material with greatly increased stiffness and thermoformable abilities. This year’s X800 is even more thermoformable than last year’s model, a nice upgrade. This year’s skate is also very light and includes the Vapor signature X-rib rear design, which promises more support and stability while increasing stiffness and overall rigidity to the quarter package.

The tongue is an upgraded Flex-lock 48-ounce, white felt three-piece, offering a better, more anatomical fit over the foot. It includes high-density, injected center foams for excellent impact protection, and to guard against lace bite—a common problem with low-volume skates like the Vapor. And the tongue in this year’s X800 is a little more flexible and forgiving, allowing players to maximize their stride extension for increased power.

The Lock-Fit dual-zone grip liner is a little more abrasive than other liners, helping to lock down the skater’s foot, but with a slightly softer feel in the bottom portion. Beneath the liner lie dual density ankle foams, very soft to the touch, that will mold to the foot with the Curv Composite quarter material. The footbed in the X800 is Bauer’s Form-Fit+ Grip bed with heel cup, to keep the foot securely planted inside the boot. The heel and toe feature a grippy, tacky texture that provides traction, helping prevent the foot from sliding.

The Vapor X800, like all Vapor skates, is a low-volume skate. If you have a narrow forefoot or a shallow heel, the Vapor is the Bauer skate that offers you the best fit. The X800’s customizability and performance features are sure to make an impression on the Bauer enthusiast looking for a new pair of affordably-priced, high-performing skates.
